Who Should Attend: All company personnel that are given the responsibility to oversee all operations with respect to fall protection, scaffolding operations, confined space control, or trenching and excavating operations. 

Objective: 
The term “Competent Person” is used in many OSHA standards and documents. An OSHA “competent person”is defined as “one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who had authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them” by way of training and/or experience, a competent person is knowledgeable of applicable standards, is capable of identifying workplace hazards relating to the specific operation, and has the authority to correct them as directed by their employer. 

OSHA’s construction scaffolding standard prohibits erection, modification and dismantling scaffold systems except under the direction of a Competent Person.Extensive information is presented regarding erection,modification and dismantling of supported scaffold systems.    

Cancellation Policy:
Pre-registration is required. If you need to cancel, you must do so at least three business days prior to the course start date.  Invoicing will be sent after course completion and companies will be billed for all registrants.  Companies/Registrants who do not cancel at least three days prior to class start will be charged the entire class fee. 

The AGC of South Dakota has the right to cancel a course within three business days of scheduled class start, or reschedule any classes due to low enrollment or other circumstances beyond our control.
